We’re committed to helping baby boomers prepare for a successful retirement. We do this by employing sophisticated statistical analysis combined with over 40 years of retirement income planning experience. The result is our clients enter retirement knowing their strengths and weaknesses. The team at Kuzma Financial Services is here to help ensure you receive all the assistance you need, not only in developing your retirement income strategy, but in maintaining it throughout your retirement.
As the owner and president of Kuzma Financial Services, Alan Kuzma is focused on helping clients work toward their retirement dreams through a well-thought-out strategy for retirement income.
Alan graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University on Mother’s Day 1973 with a degree in economics. Unsure where to go from there, he searched for a career that would offer variety and allow him to control his own destiny. The financial services industry met both of those needs. Even so, his mother encouraged his father to try to talk him out of going into the business. Instead, Alan decided to give it his all for two years to see how he liked it and reevaluate after that time was up. That was more than 40 years ago.
Alan founded Kuzma Financial Services on June 5, 1986. His business philosophy is simple: Do what is right for the client. He focuses on helping clients and their families design and implement retirement income strategies that will stand the test of time.
Alan received his Certified Life Underwriter (CLU) and Charted Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations from The American College. He is licensed in life, health and accident insurance in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Illinois and holds his Series 65 and Series 63 securities licenses. In addition, Alan is a registered Investment Adviser of CMIQ (Capital markets IQ) as well as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner.
Away from the office, Alan enjoys cooking, reading, archery, following college sports and playing Texas Hold ‘em. He lives in Lincoln, Nebraska, and has two adult children. His daughter, Katie, lives in Manchester, England, and has two young children: Adrian and Juliette. Alan’s son, Daniel, lives in Atlanta, Georgia. He celebrated his one-year wedding anniversary on Aug. 22, 2016, and has a golden retriever by the name of Snoozema Kuzma.
Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Center for Financial Planning, Inc. owns and licenses the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, and CFP® (with plaque design) in the United States to Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., which authorizes individuals who successfully complete the organization’s initial and ongoing certification requirements to use the certification marks.
The ChFC® (Chartered Financial Consultant®) designation is issued by the American College of Financial Services, an accredited non-profit educational institution since 1927. A ChFC® designee is trained to understand the essentials of financial planning, including insurance, income taxation, retirement planning, investments and estate planning, but the ChFC® program addresses the areas where the rules change a bit, such as behavioral finance, financial planning for families with special needs dependents, small business planning, financial planning for clients in the LGBT community, financial planning for divorce, and more. An ChFC® designation requires nine college-level courses that address all aspects of financial planning, with a focus on the practical applications of those principles based on real-life case studies. In addition, it requires three years of full-time, relevant business experience. Designees must complete nine closed-book, course-specific, two-hour proctored exams and 30 hours of continuing education every two years through The American College’s PACE recertification program. http://www.designationcheck.com.
The CLU® (Chartered Life Underwriter®) designation is issued by the American College of Financial Services. A CLU® designee is trained to understand a broad array of personal risk management and life insurance planning issues. The CLU® designation requires eight college-level courses. In addition, it requires three years of full-time, relevant business experience. Designees must complete eight closed-book, course-specific, two-hour proctored exams and 30 hours of continuing education every two years through The American College’s PACE recertification program. http://www.designationcheck.com.
